February 7, 9, 11 | Review Core 2 - 5 Canons Review - New Term: Heuristics Library Demo | Read "Chapter 4: Arguments Based on Facts and Reason - Logos" In Everything's an Argument | Read "Chapter 2: Arguments from the Heart - Pathos" In Everything's an Argument Bring in two new articles from the library. We will discuss the balance between Logos and Pathos in those articles. |
February 14, 16, 18 | Read "Chapter 3: Arguments Based on Character - Ethos" in Everything's an Argument Bring your articles. We will look them over for credibility and begin compiling our notes for Core 2. | Bring two articles you will be using. Research Synthesis Exercise: - Label each of your articles as either primary or secondary sources - Briefly explain each article's purpose in your paper - Evaluate each article's effectiveness in its purpose | MLA Day Read “Chapter 18: Intellectual Property, Academic Integrity, and Avoiding Plagiarism” in Everything’s an Argument Bring Everyday Writer and two new articles from the library. Bring articles to use for sample MLA citation exercise. In class citation exercises. Note: if you need help, here is a list of useful pages in The Everyday Writer. |
